On Moon Trip Radio, his second official album, the producer’s still trading in the gently tripped-out textures he pioneered, but with a newfound sense of elegance (and zero features): Fire Blue is ambient trip-hop at its most arresting, and Lyre blends chopped strings and wildlife recordings into pure Zen. On “ Sandman,” Rocky went back to the misty, psychedelic cloud-rap sound of those early days, and he enlisted the help of Clams Casino, the great producer who handled many of the beats on $AP. To celebrate the occasion, Rocky put the mixtape up on streaming services, and he added one new song. A week and a half ago, A$AP Rocky’s landmark mixtape $AP turned 10.
